Therapy is a supportive space where you work with a trained professional to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It’s about gaining clarity on what’s going on in your life, finding healthier ways to cope, and making progress toward healing and personal growth.
No. As a counsellor, my role differs from that of a psychologist, but it is no less valuable. While psychologists diagnose and treat clinical mental health conditions, I focus on providing support, guidance, and therapeutic interventions to help individuals navigate challenges and build resilience.
I do not diagnose mental health disorders, but I do use therapeutic approaches like CBT to help clients manage stress, anxiety, and other emotional difficulties. My work is typically short- to medium-term, centered on emotional support, personal growth, and practical coping strategies. If a client needs a diagnosis or specialized care beyond my scope, I refer them to a psychologist or psychiatrist.
That said, my role is crucial in mental health care. I create a safe, non-judgmental space where individuals can explore their emotions, gain clarity, and develop healthier coping mechanisms. While I don’t diagnose, I empower clients with the tools and support they need to move forward with confidence.

Therapy can be incredibly helpful if you’re feeling overwhelmed, dealing with emotional or relationship challenges, or just looking to grow and understand yourself better. If you're not sure where to start, an initial session is a great way to explore whether therapy feels right for you.
The number of sessions can vary depending on your unique needs and goals. Some people start feeling more at ease after just a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term support. Together, we’ll create a plan that feels comfortable for you, and we can adjust it as we go to make sure you’re getting the support you need.
The first session is typically an opportunity to discuss your concerns, goals, and background. We’ll establish a comfortable and trusting space for you to express yourself, and we’ll work together to create a plan for moving forward.
Yes, confidentiality is a core component of therapy. What you share in sessions is kept private, with a few exceptions that we'll discuss in the first session (e.g., safety concerns). You can feel secure knowing your privacy is respected and of utmost importance.
